The Russians are doing Exactly the Right Thing
Let’s see if we can get this one through The Shadow.
This piece deserves to get read. I look around the net and find that what I am saying is being said by some sources, but not nearly enough. I have been resigned to accepting that the best of my work will get about three dozen reads due to The Shadow.
You know what I am talking about. Those sources which can get through The Shadow and bring some truth to situations such as the Ukraine war are ones which have some resources or skills which I do not have, at new media forms that are not yet shadowed and censored. I am merely an aging survivor on a fixed income, with a good internet setup and about a hundred times the brains of people attracting thousands of readers.
It will be commented that I must be some bitter and jealous person. Of course I am, and so what? I have nothing else to do but think and write, and my domestic condition is comfortable and secure.
What I have been writing deserves more readers. If I, and more people writing from the same perspectives as I, were much more widely read, the world would be a better place. This is especially true of the new conflict in Ukraine and I am going to make a special effort to get this piece some circulation.
So the boom has finally come down on the cretins misruling the Ukraine. They are hearing the “Heavy Metal Thunder”, as Escobar put it. We are hearing and reading all over the net about how horrible “Putin” is for doing what should have been done long ago.
There is a government in Russia. There is not some comic book evil entity called “Putin” inhabiting some sort of cavern under the Kremlin, creating troll farms and bringing on pandemics by some magical means. This government has a foreign and defense policy.
There are some problems with the present Russian government. Its handling of social policy has been poor. It has greatly mismanaged the Great Pandemic.
Its economic management has been fair. It has been brilliant at foreign policy. Considering the intense hostility directed at it for remaining independent of Globalist hegemony, it has really had to be.
In being so, it has been one of the main stabilizing forces in the world. It has done an excellent job of stabilizing Syria. It has also helped a few lesser known countries to overcome destabilization. Now the time has come to put Ukraine in order.
The stupidity of most internet chatter about this is woeful to scroll through. It is most sorrowful that people I follow closely on topics of importance to me start to recite these idiotic tropes about “Putin” and “unjustified aggression” and so on. I cannot fully understand this.
Here is someone who has been brilliant at forming knowledge of the covid calamity, how it happened, how it must be stopped, how we can protect ourselves from it. She has done it by understanding the subject thoroughly before forming conclusions about it. Then he comes out with nonsense about the Ukraine situation based on nothing at all.
I am a good authority on the situation in Ukraine. I have been following it for over a decade now. I have developed my ideas and my sources of information about it by studying these sources, comparing them, understanding their biases and competences.
It is time for me to start regurgitating all this knowledge onto the net. The problem is, as I have stated, getting it through The Shadow. Of course I do not want merely to repeat what enough people have said well enough, although they are largely drowned out by the bad noise recited from the propaganda mill.
Yes, all the serious students of geopolitics have predicted for many years that the expansion of NATO to Russia’s borders will finally lead to war. Yes, the Ukraine situation could be seen as a Cuban missile crisis in reverse. Yes, it is the Russians who are under attack and no one not in the fight with them has any right to sit on a cloud and tell them what to do.
However, I find some deeper and more compelling aspects to this. For one thing, the story of the Donbass rebellion needs to be told. I hope to be able to get around fairly soon to doing a blog about that.
There is a considerable effort made to suppress that story, not just by the Globalist propagandists, but by the Russian government itself. The Donbass complicated its plans for Ukraine. Yet after eight years, the Donbassians are getting the guns moved away from their heads.
What I should do first is a quick History of Ukraine itself. The area has been a flashpoint of history for as far back as history goes. It has one of the biggest stretches of very fertile land on earth and has never really been developed.
It has usually been a horse pasture for conquering nomads passing through. For much of its history it seems to have been almost uninhabited. The name itself means “borderland” and it is a recent and somewhat artificial construction.
In fact, most of its recent history is complex and really sordid. It has been fought over by the Turks, Poles, Austrians, Russians, and these Cossack groups. Most of the population descends from people brought in recently as serfs or wage labourers.
The whole country was never united into an entity called Ukraine until the Bolsheviks conquered it at the end of the first world war. Their contempt for national sentiments caused them to lump together people who really had nothing in common.
The two main language groups are the Gallicians and the South Russians. There is no such language as Ukrainian. Both these groups descend ultimately from the people of the old Kiev state who fled away when the Turkic speaking peoples conquered the steppe a thousand years back.
The ancestors of the Galicians moved west and came under the rule of the Poles, who treated them with contempt. Later, when the Cossacks emerged, they brought many of these people back east, while others came under the Austrian empire after the collapse of old Poland.
Much of the toxic nationalist tendency in the Gallicians comes from centuries of being ruled over brutally. Then the Austrian empire in its later years got the habit of trying to keep control of its subject people by nurturing xenophobia to keep them fighting each other.
When the Nazis rolled over Ukraine they found the Gallicians to be very enthusiastic recruits. When they got the opportunity they treated other ethnicities around them viciously. They got to be too much even for the Nazis, who had to rein them in.
Here is a point of special interest to Canada. The victorious allies after the world war found all these Gallician refugees who had fled the red army to be very useful in suppressing communism. A lot of them were let into Canada to help with suppressing earlier waves of Ukrainian settlers, who tended to be very leftist.
This is another one of these points in Canadian history which does not get into the history books. Our present deputy Prime Minister is a descendant of these people, who seem to have an inordinate influence in Canadian politics. Thus Canada has been a source for the back migration into post Soviet Ukraine of this Fascistic inclination, which had been pretty much wiped out there in Soviet times.
Meanwhile, the Russians had emerged from the Slavic people who fled north into the forests to get away from those early Turks. When Catherine the Great drove the Ottoman Turks out of the Black Sea areas, she settled Russian serfs in the area. Later the Donbass became one of the most industrialized parts of Russia while Gallician speaking areas remained backward and agricultural.
When the Soviet Union collapsed, Ukraine had been the most productive part of it. Russia and Ukraine both became infested with oligarchs and western ‘advisors’ during the 1990s. The Russians after 2000 brought this corruption under control and resumed economic progress.
Ukraine did not. It is now the poorest country in Europe, and the most corrupt. It is now the “404 country”. The cause has been the disruption of political development by western intelligence services, working through the savage “Ukraine Nationalists”.
Two coups have taken place when Ukrainian governments started to realize the west did not have much to offer Ukraine and started leaning toward Russia. A big part of the problem is that many Ukrainians have the idea that if they could join the European Union they would develop a similar standard of living. Western Europe does not love them back and there is not the slightest chance they will ever get into the European Union except on very bad terms.
After the second coup, in 2014, which was especially violent, Russia decided it needed Crimea back. It had some legal ‘color of right’ to do this because its Black Sea fleet remained based in Crimea. It had a treaty with Ukraine allowing it to take control of Crimea in an emergency.
The Crimean population are multiethnic but mostly dislike Ukrainians. They passed a referendum to ask Russia to annex them. Russia was happy to do so.
The people of Donbass were also tired of the endless kleptocracy and geek show of Ukraine. They got the idea that they could follow the path of the Crimeans and get annexed back into Russia. So they organized a referendum, which carried by a large majority.
It has been argued that Russia made a huge strategic error by not intervening in the fascist coup in Kiev or in the Donbass revolt. However, Russian foreign policy in the Putin age is very cautious. Its government has also seemed to have had the idea that the Russian minority in Ukraine will exert a moderating influence on the country.
The Donbassians did not get the Russian army coming to free them, but rather the Ukrainian army and neofascist goons coming to terrorize them. They revolted. It was an incredible story. They were able to build an effective militia that could drive the demoralized and disintegrating forces of Kiev from their neighbourhoods, and create a defense perimeter.
There was no Russian invasion into the Donbass. To reiterate, the Putin government was rather annoyed with the Donbass revolt. It eventually restricted the flow of money, material, and volunteers into Donbass from other areas of Russia.
The most tragic thing about the revolts in south Ukraine were the other Russian speaking provinces which tried to emulate Donbass but did not have the time to mobilize or the access to external supports. In these places, the Ukronazis did what good little Nazis everywhere do when they can; burned people alive, filled up and hid mass graves, raped and plundered.
Russia has brought the Donbass republics under its tight control and will not allow them to be destroyed. However, it has not allowed them to declare independence. Instead it has brought about this “Minsk” process.
This is after the Minsk accord which the Ukraine government agreed to so as to forestall the Russians cutting off gas to Ukraine, which would have collapsed the Ukraine economy at that time. The Russians have insisted that the Kiev government negotiate directly with the Donbass republics to create a new government in which the rights of the Russian minority are respected. The two parties have been dancing around this for eight years, with the Ukrainians avoiding any meeting with the Donbassians.
It is a pointless debate as to which party has been stringing which along in this Minsk process. Some way the Russians should have gone in and wiped out the Nazis back in 2014. Now, the Nazi government has consolidated its control over the country, built its army up, and reduced its need for Russian gas.
Yet Russian power relative to NATO, the western alliance, has greatly increased in eight years. The west has not kept up in weapons development and the Russians have now deployed weapons they cannot match. Russia is now largely invulnerable to economic sanctions and cyber war attacks on it.
What seems to have finally triggered the Russian operation into Ukraine was the announcement of the Ukrainian president that he was ending involvement with the Minsk discussions and seeking to develop nuclear weapons. What is really interesting is that the various official blowholes for the NATO establishment have been screaming about a Russian attack for months, but now that they have one they seem caught off guard by it.
Another interesting thing; many of the cheer leaders for Russia seem to have expected it to pull off a blitzkrieg type of attack and end the conflict in days. Instead, the Russians seem to intend a slow and systematic operation much like what they did in Syria. The aim is simple and logical; to demilitarize and deNazify Ukraine; exactly the thing to do.
However, they have not handled some aspects of this operation very well and some Ukrainian units are resisting. The Russian command is pleading with the Ukrainian army not to use the civilian population as human shields. However, as we have seen in Syria, that is what mercenary forces organized by Atlanticist state intelligence services specialize in. They will also lay booby traps and mines everywhere and destroy any infrastructure they do not need for themselves.
So there it goes. I am already sick of the sanctimonious chatter from ‘news media’ who obvious have no idea of what is going on or why. I am doomed to spend much time crafting pieces like this, to try to cut through the bad blather on the net and get some truth across; mostly in vain.
But here it is. Circulate it widely.
The Russians are doing Exactly the Right Thing
It's informative and well researched blog I've come across recently. It's really impressive and great what you're trying to do so that the whole world could see the truth. Keep writing!!
